Money Questions, Plainly
The tools are deliberately simple. These answers explain what goes into a result and what still needs your judgment.
Should I use gross or take-home income?
Use take-home income available to the household. Do not subtract payroll deductions a second time if they are already excluded from your income figure.
What if my income changes each month?
Use a cautious baseline based on recent ordinary months, separate uncertain income, and check actual pay dates against bill dates. A monthly average does not guarantee money is available on a particular day.
How large should an emergency fund be?
There is no single right amount. Multiply essential monthly costs by a period suited to your circumstances, then subtract existing reserves. The three-month example is not an individualized recommendation.
How does the savings calculator apply interest?
It divides a constant annual nominal rate by 12, compounds monthly and adds deposits at month-end. It excludes fees, taxes, inflation and withdrawals.
Can I enter an advertised APY directly?
Not as an exact equivalent. APY already includes compounding; the input expects an annual nominal rate. Check your account disclosure and convert the rate if necessary.
Is avalanche always the right repayment choice?
Not necessarily. Highest-rate-first usually reduces interest under the simplified model, but arrears, secured obligations, fees and your ability to maintain payments can change the practical decision.
Why does the debt estimate differ from my statement?
The model uses monthly interest, fixed minimums and month-end payments. Your lender may use daily balances, variable minimums, fees or different allocation rules.
Are my financial inputs saved or sent to you?
The supplied calculators and spending tracker process entries in the open page without sending them to us or saving them automatically. Reloading clears them. Hosting logs and any email you choose to send are separate.
Can I save the tracker and print worksheets?
Yes. Download the spending log as CSV before leaving the page, or use the print controls to print or save a PDF. There is no import or automatic recovery feature.
Does the contact form send a message?
No. It prepares a plain-text draft locally, which you can copy or download. You must send it yourself using your own email application.
